Conversion of Active Voice Sentence into Passive Voice For Interrogative Sentence:

The verbs has, have, had, will, shall, can, may etc., do not change their position at the begining of the sentence when the active voice is changed to the passive voice.

Rule used to identify that the sentence is in Active Voice form with Interrogative Sentence: is:

For Example:

  • Have you invited them ? (Active)
  • Here,'Have' is the helping verb, 'you' is the subject ,'invited' is the third form of the verb invite and 'them' is an object.

While converting into Passive Voice the rule will be :

Helping verb + subject + been + third form of the verb + by + object + ?

  •  Have they been invited by you? (Passive)
  • Here, the helping verb 'have' will remain the same in interrogative sentence. The subject 'they' will become an object and the object 'you' will become subject. According to the form of tense, the helping verb will  be changed.

Active voice: Will you help him?

Passive voice: Will he be helped by you?

The interrogative words when , why, where, how or what do not change their position at the beginning of the sentence when the active voice is changed into the passive voice. Note that Who changes to by whom and whom into who.

Whom did you invite ? (Active voice)
